J-Onyx

J-Onyx is a London-based British rapper, singer and songwriter who oozes creativity, personality, and mystique.

She grew up with music always playing aloud around her. Her mum and her elder siblings constantly had the sounds of Reggae, Dancehall, HipHop, R&B, Motown, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Indie, UK Garage, Pop, and Afrobeats filling every room of the family home. And, her uncle was a member of the legendary reggae band, UB40.

Her journey to adulthood had its ups and downs which is her motivation for all that she's achieved. Even though J-Onyx had the support of her family, she found herself doing things that did not always make them proud. She dropped out of school at a young age and found herself in some challenging situations. However, her turning point was getting into the famed Brit School and then attending drama school. J-Onyx was aiming for a career in the performing arts but never actually considered a career in the music industry and to the amazement of most went on to pursue a career in the property business!

In November 2019 J-Onyx was teasingly dared by her friends to rap an off-the-top-of-the-head freestyle and upload it on her Instagram for at least two days. In effect it was the overwhelming reaction to that effortless playful freestyle post that uncovered her natural gift with rhymes and flows. This then led her into seriously considering nurturing this talent into a new dream career. Several conversations later and an intense year of development into a bonafide recording artist she is now ready to introduce herself - and her unique sound, to the world. Now here she is and here we are!

True to her persona and belief in her own talent J-Onyx has decided to conceal her image to encourage listeners to solely focus on just her music and artistry for now! Get to know… J-Onyx.
